Michael Van Grinsven, CLU, is the director of Northwestern Mutual’s Financial Representative Internship program – consistently ranked one of America’s Top Ten Internships by

Michael began his career at the company as a Top Ten College Intern in sales, and established more than 100 clients in his first two years. Upon graduation, he became a College Unit Director and Financial Representative finishing among the top in the company’s honorable Mike Gish competition. Michael was quickly recruited to Northwestern Mutual’s corporate office, where he’s held numerous positions related to field recruitment and management over the past 20 years.

A product of the internship, Michael’s passion for leadership and the financial career has led him to speak at more than 200 colleges and universities nationwide. His work has been featured in numerous trade and business publications including Forbes, Best’s Review, Sales & Marketing Management, Employment Management Today, GAMA News Journal, and LIMRA.

Michael is married to Beth, and they have three teenage children, Jansen, Leif and Elle. Regarding personal accomplishments, Michael proudly completed his first marathon in 2003. He ran the original marathon course, which started at the battle field in Marathon, Greece, and finished in the Olympic stadium in Athens.
